Barack Obama Is Probably Going To Have His Own Netflix Show

This will make up for a million MUTEs.

The Netflix Gods are unusual beings.

According to the New York Times, former President Barack Obama is in advanced negotiations with Netflix to produce a series of high-profile shows that will provide him a global platform after his departure from the White House. This is a far cry more interesting than five more Bright sequels, or whatever the fuck it is they do over there anymore.

While the deal is not yet finalized, Netflix is apparently offering a large sum of money for Obama and First Lady, Michelle, to provide them exclusive content that would only be available on the streaming giant's platform. However, don't expect Barack to start firing shots at President Trump or his morning string of tweets that he shits out while sitting on the White House toilet. In their usual classy fashion, the Obamas are looking to bring "inspirational stories" to Netflix that they would oversee.

Senior advisor to the former President Eric Schultz issued this statement on his boss' behalf:

“President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

Obama is also looking to possibly host a conversational segment, which would cover topics that were near and dear to his administration - such as health care, voting rights, immigration, foreign policy, climate change - as opposed to antagonizing an entire country, like the current Doofus In Chief and his Large Adult Sons do every day via social media.

Mrs. Obama's series would be focused around causes that she championed as First Lady - such as nutrition, physical fitness, and education - while the story also notes that she may be involved in documentaries on the subjects as well.

But what's most remarkable here is that the Obamas seem so intent on engaging the public, not content to simply retire into philanthropy or simple relaxation, like many former Presidents. If Netflix is able to pull this off - as Amazon and Apple have also apparently approached the Obamas - it would be one hell of a victory, as their reputation continues to slide into an abyss of saving subpar entertainment from flailing studios. More Obama is only a good thing, especially given the current political climate, and this writer would personally keep his own subscription just to see what good they can bring into the world.
