The TCA press tour's in full swing, and you know what that means: people are asking HBO's President of Programming, Casey Bloys, when we might see the return of our favorite shows. Specifically, they're asking when the third season of True Detective's gonna get here.
Asked point blank if season three will be along this year, Bloys says:
That's it. That is the complete quote. It is, admittedly, not a very sexy quote. It tells us almost nothing ... and yet, knowing that True Detective won't be back in 2018 is valuable information. Now we can exhale, and save our precious hype reserves for the back half of this year (if not early next year).
Beyond that vague release date, we also know True Detective season three goes in front of cameras next month with series creator Nic Pizzolatto co-directing with Green Room's Jeremy Saulnier, and that this batch of episodes will star Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff. We also know season three will revolve around a "macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks", which sounds right up Saulnier's alley.
Will True Detective's third season be a return to the greatness of season one? Cross your fingers, and stay tuned fore more True Detective updates as they become available.
