With Thor: Ragnarok in theaters and blowing up the box office, it's time to look ahead to the next Marvel joint, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. We've been hyped about this one ever since it was announced, but as the film's February 16th release date draws ever closer, our hype levels are running dangerously high.
Not helping the situation: these awesome new character posters, which feature over half a dozen of the film's characters...as well as some of Wakanda's strange new technology.
Let's take a look.
So, all of the above are pretty cool. A little uninspired, maybe, but these posters didn't need fancy designs to push Black Panther's most exciting selling point: its wildly talented, predominantly black cast. All those gadgets and cool costumes are just a bonus (also a bonus: Andy Serkis' weird-ass fake hand, which I dare you not to stare at for ten straight minutes).
Here's an official plot synopsis, via our friends at Coming Soon:
"Marvel Studios’ Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life."
Black Panther arrives on February 16th. You folks ready for it?
