THE PREDATOR And ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Will Arrive Later Than Expected

Much later, in BATTLE ANGEL's case.

According to the good folks over at Coming Soon, 20th Century Fox has bumped both Robert Rodriguez' Alita: Battle Angel and Shane Black's The Predator from their previous release dates.

Battle Angel, previously set to open on July 20th, will now arrive on December 21st, where it will do box office battle with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's Holmes & Watson, Paramount's uncalled-for Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee, and James Wan's Aquaman. Whether or not this is a death sentence for Alita: Battle Angel is a matter of opinion (opinion: this is probably a death sentence for Alita: Battle Angel), but even if you think Rodriguez has a blockbuster on his hands - that's some serious competition.

Shane Black's The Predator, meanwhile, is moving off its previously-established August 3rd release date to September 18th. This one's kind of a bummer because we're dying to get our eyeballs on that thing, but what's another few weeks? In the BMD household, we are firmly pro- giving Shane Black the time he needs to work his Shane Black magic.

Nothing further to report about either of these movies at this time, but we're keeping our ear to the ground for updates (we're also keeping our ear to the ground for updates on Holmes & Watson, another of our most-anticipated 2018 titles; Bumblebee not so much). Stay tuned, folks.
