Even Jonathan Frakes Is Dying To Know About This Tarantino STAR TREK Thing

The veteran STAR TREK player is just as curious as the rest of us.

Rotten Tomatoes has a great interview with Star Trek’s Jonathan Frakes - a guy who doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves, in my opinion, if not for his great directing work than at least for knowing how to sit better than any man on Earth.

Frakes is there mostly to promote this Sunday’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery, which he directed, but the interview takes some turns. Along the way, the subject of Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek comes up. What’s special about that is Frakes brings it up, rather than the interviewer, making him sound like a kid just bursting at the seams to discuss it:

Frakes: Where do you fall on the Quentin Tarantino story?

RT: Oh. Well, you know, I’m open.

Frakes: Speak frankly.

RT: I’m open to have people experiment and to see what they can do with a thing. What about you? Let me throw that right back at you.

Frakes: I texted with J.J. about it to see what his take was. I wanted to see if I could get the scoop out of him, and he just said it’s going to be wild. I threw it back at him. I’m fascinated. I love the fact that Patrick Stewart played his hand so well and said, “Yeah, I’m available. Count me in.”

Frakes doesn’t have much to add; he just wants to talk about it. We’re with you, Frakes. This Tarantino thing is still hard for many of us to believe, and it’s equally hard to keep from endlessly speculating about it.

Frakes also discusses his episode of Discovery, to a point of almost spoiling some things. (SPOILERS ) Apparently someone dies, but their death might not be permanent. Way to keep driving me crazy, Discovery! You at least have that going for you.
