Everything that glitters, isn’t always gold…unless you’ve got Iggy Pop slinging soulful songs on your latest film. Gold (2017), starring Matthew McConaughey, hit theaters last week sporting a shiny new track mined by one of punk rock’s classic prospectors. Co-written with Danger Mouse, director Stephen Gaghan, and score composer Daniel Pemberton, Iggy popped his way back into cinema throating a bluesy, deep doleful tune aptly entitled “Gold” released by Varèse Saraband records on March 3rd. There’s a new video featuring clips from the movie and scenes of Pop recording the song in the studio. It’s cool, powerful and infectious as hell. Check it out.
