Yesterday’s wonderful news about Channing Tatum joining Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle had us all giddy and stuff, and this morning we realized we never even reported on last week’s news of Pedro Pascal joining the cast! Let’s fix that!
Pedro Pascal has joined the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
That’s right: my favorite character from Game Of Thrones (aka The One I Can Remember) is back, teeth and face intact, to join forces with Eggsy, Merlin, and the gang. Last week, The Independent went so far as to say Pascal was playing the “swaggering, sharp-shooting cowboy” named Jack Daniels. But according to yesterday’s announcement, Tatum’s playing a Southerner. Did the Independent jump to conclusions? Are the Statesman all good ol’ boys? Or does Tatum maybe represent the South and Pascal the American West, leaving open slots for Northern and Eastern Statesmen to fill? I’d be into a Popeye Doyle or Serpico type joining the Statesmen. And man, look at that photo above; Pascal would be so choice as a hard-boiled ‘70s-style NY cop.
Guess we’ll know more soon. Until then, what other American action archetypes would you want to see fill out the Statesmen roster? A Dirty Harry/Bullitt type? A black cop who's getting too old for this shit? A grizzled ex-CIA agent who wants his kids back? Can we sneak Mel Gibson in there somewhere?
